Where Animation Meets Classical Music — Two Art Forms One Stage

Join us for an evening of live classical saxophone music featuring original animations by The Animation Project students — created to bring CSP’s compositions to life on screen. Come celebrate the music and the young artists behing the art.

Emerging Artists Spotlight

In addition to student collaborations, the Classical Saxophone Project supports emerging and early-career musicians by providing opportunities to perform in a professional concert environment. CSP regularly features guest artists—including instrumentalists, chamber ensembles, and interdisciplinary collaborators—who are building their careers and exploring new repertoire. These performances allow artists to gain valuable experience while contributing to CSP’s mission of expanding classical music performance and collaboration.

Spark.

We work with local and global artists to harness the power that only classical saxophone has to spark unseen dreams, hope, and possibility.

Transcend.

We help local and global communities break the barriers of status quo to rethink, reimagine and rewrite what we want our lives — and the world — to stand for.

Experience.

We provide local and global audiences with performances and recordings each year to experience where classical sax can take them.

The Animation Project

Animated Storytelling Collaboration

Through CSP’s collaboration with The Animation Project, young artists are discovering the power of storytelling through animation, music, and creative collaboration.

In TAP’s Animated Storytelling Program, participants work alongside animation teaching artists and creative arts therapists to create original animated films from concept to public screening. This year, students created animations inspired by several CSP compositions, including a favorite among participants — Transumanti by Nicolas Channine — while connecting directly with acclaimed CSP artists Javier Oviedo and Jean-Pierre Schmitt throughout the creative process.

The collaboration gives participants a platform to strengthen confidence, develop social-emotional skills, and explore creative career pathways — while inviting audiences to experience how classical music and youth storytelling can transform one another.

Together, CSP and TAP are creating performances, films, and mentorship experiences that inspire the next generation of artists and audiences alike.

Audience Voices

Reflections of previous events and community gatherings.

June 7, 2025 Season Finale

“My favorite piece was of Nicolas Chaanine, and I really like how modern the piece was and it kind of took us on a journey and it got, I don’t know, I felt all different types of things, I felt my body move, it felt funky, it felt modern, I could see like Tyler the Creator or somebody doing a beat on it actually. It just felt really fresh and it felt inspiring.”

February 14, 2026 Valentine Spectacular

“What I liked about this performance a lot was, I was able to see Classical Saxophone which is really hard to find in the city. Most of it’s just kind of jazz, which is great but being able to watch Classical Saxophone is really fantastic.”
