Leonardo Dinner (Leo) is a 7th grader from Los Angeles. He has loved Bach since he began piano lessons at 6. Musically, Leo strives to learn in depth. With the support of his teacher, Leo explored over 80 Bach works to improve his ability to hear complex fugal (multi-voiced) expressions. Leo has since received top awards in regional, state, and national/international competitions for all genres, but Bach remains his favorite composer. Noteworthy mentions include an appearance at Carnegie Hall and his first solo Concerto performance (Bach d minor BWV 1052) with the La Mirada Symphony.
In addition to piano performance, Leo enjoys improvising and composing music. He began writing his own melodies at age 7, and his compositions include ballades, sonatas, quartets, quintets and a percussion fantasy. His compositions have been reviewed by established composers, and his music has been played by notable people such as Karen Elaine, Maksim Velichkin and Javier Oviedo. In 2023, Leo placed first in state for composition in his age category.
Leo believes the universal language of music should penetrate beyond the physical ear and into the emotional realm and he is excited to share this Bach f minor Concerto with you.
